Kilkenny Vintage Jersey 1993
The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1993 was the 107th staging of Ireland’s premier hurling knock-out competition. Kilkenny won the championship, beating Galway 2-17 to 1-15 in the final at Croke Park.
In the semi final’s Kilkenny beat Antrim 4-18 to 1-9, while Galway had the tougher challenge of playing Tipperary. The final score was Galway 1-16 to Tipperary 1-14. The final was played on the 5th September with an attendance of 63,460. The referee on the day was T Murray from Limerick.
Eddie O’ Connor captained the Kilkenny side and Kilkenny was managed by Ollie Walsh. This was Kilkenny’s 25th senior All Ireland title. This year the great D.J Carey was top scorer in the Championship scoring 6-23. D.J also got player of the year and Kilkenny picked up a total of 6 All Star awards.
